Pancake Day 2015

It’s Pancake Day 2015!

We all love Pancake Day! It’s a sure fire sign that spring is just around the corner and it’s also a fabulous excuse to eat lots of yummy food and not feel guilty about it!

Let’s start this blog with a little history … Shrove Tuesday, commonly known as Pancake Day, is a Tuesday either in February or March, which marks the day before the first day of Lent – Ash Wednesday. Pancakes are traditionally eaten as they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk and sugar before the fasting season of Lent.

Pancake Day is also celebrated as Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday – a time of colourful celebration, parades, dancing in the street, costumes and masked balls. If you’re hosting your own masked ball and feel like getting into the Mardi Gras party spirit, why not make your table really vibrant with our Tropical Jungle oilcloth or Zig Zag Tropical oilcloth?

Let’s get flipping those pancakes!

Are you a sweet or a savoury fan? Our personal favourite is the good old traditional lemon and sugar but you can find lots of great recipes and ideas over on the BBC Good Food website. There’s even a video guide on how to improve your flipping technique!

More fun and less cleaning up with our oilcloth fabrics

Cooking pancakes with the kids is fabulous fun but it can also be a little messy. Don’t worry though as all our oilcloths are wipe clean, which means more fun and less cleaning up! How about getting your pancake party started with our lovely Patisserie Duckegg tablecloth? It looks good enough to eat!

We hope you’re all set for next week’s pancake fest. If you would like to share any photos of your Mardi Gras party or pancake party with us then please feel free to post them on our Facebook timeline or send us a Facebook message.

Happy Pancake Day!
